Technical Trainer, Field - Underground and Overhead

Location: Berlin, CT, United States. The role is based at the Berlin, CT Training Yard and requires travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire, as well as emergency restoration assignments outside normal work hours and locations.

Annual salary: $133,290–$148,100, commensurate with experience. The position may also include an incentive.

What you will do

• Develop and conduct classroom, hands-on, and on-the-job technical training for field employees.
• Work with line mechanics, splicers, and supervisors to analyze job tasks, field performance, and training needs.
• Supervise, instruct, and evaluate trainees during initial and refresher training.
• Conduct field quality audits and maintain standards, procedures, and work methods.
• Train employees in overhead distribution work, including pole climbing, aerial device operation, wire installation, transformer connections, hot-line tools, and troubleshooting.
• Deliver underground residential distribution training covering cable splicing and termination, print reading, trenching, shoring, and fault locating.

Requirements

• At least eight years of direct craft experience in transmission, distribution, or field service design, installation, customer service, or employee supervision.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of utility transmission and distribution system design, operations, maintenance, construction, safety standards, and business processes.
• Strong communication, presentation, leadership, coaching, and schedule management skills.
• Ability to use desktop applications including Microsoft Word and Excel; working knowledge of labor contracts.
• Driver’s license required; D.O.T. license preferred. Visa sponsorship is not available, and applicants requiring immigration-related sponsorship will not be considered.
