Mobile Trainer (Electric Utility)

Location: Hybrid, based in Chino, California, with required residence in California and up to 90% travel throughout the SCE service territory. Field coverage includes Wildomar, Menifee, Palm Springs, and Yucca Valley. Relocation does not apply.

Salary: $163,000–$244,400 per year

What you will do

• Deliver classroom and field training for transmission and distribution employees, including apprentice linemen and substation operations personnel.
• Develop and maintain training curricula, materials, assessments, and performance-support tools using the Systematic Approach to Training.
• Provide guidance on safety protocols, work processes, electrical equipment, new technologies, and operating procedures.
• Administer classroom tests and field assessments, determine pass/fail criteria, and provide trainee feedback.
• Coordinate training logistics across multiple locations and support regulatory, safety, and compliance training.
• Mentor trainees, support frontline leaders with performance management, and contribute to technical training roadmaps and operational excellence initiatives.

Requirements

• Five or more years of experience in electric utility line work, training, and/or instructional design.
• Valid Class C Driver's License.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement, reside in California, and travel extensively throughout the SCE service territory.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, approved work methods, industry standards, and technical training practices.
• Ability to support training related to transmission, distribution, electrical construction, maintenance, and operations.

Nice to have

• Experience as an adjunct instructor.
• Experience designing training programs, curricula, and technical courses for multiple skill levels.
• Experience with Transmission and Distribution Apprentice Lineman training requirements.
• Knowledge of the ADDIE model and instructional design processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
