Director of Accounting, Deployment (Nuclear Energy)

Location: Washington, DC or Columbia, SC, United States

Salary: $176,000–$204,000 annually, paid bi-weekly, less applicable withholdings and deductions.

What you will do

• Lead divisional month-end close, project reporting, financial reporting, and consolidation into the corporate parent.
• Apply and document U.S. GAAP policies across deployment entities, joint ventures, special-purpose vehicles, projects, and acquired businesses.
• Lead technical accounting for project costs, construction in progress, capitalization, impairment, consolidation, power purchase agreements, and intercompany transactions.
• Manage purchase accounting and acquisition integration, including opening balance sheets, purchase price allocations, intangible asset valuation, and post-acquisition adjustments.
• Integrate entities and acquisitions into the ERP and finance environment, including migration to a common chart of accounts and NetSuite.
• Build the Deployment accounting function, strengthen internal controls, support SOX and ICFR readiness, and develop the accounting team as a player-coach.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and controllership experience, including senior accounting leadership experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Strong U.S. GAAP expertise and experience with construction, infrastructure development, or other large-scale capital projects.
• Experience in complex multi-entity environments involving joint ventures, special-purpose vehicles, project financing, or acquisitions.
• Experience owning month-end close, financial reporting, corporate consolidation, external audits, and technical accounting documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to build accounting teams while remaining hands-on in close, reporting, accounting integration, controls, and process development.

Nice to have

• Active CPA license and public accounting experience, ideally with a Big Four firm.
• Experience implementing SOX and internal control over financial reporting requirements.
• Hands-on ERP implementation, transition, or migration experience; NetSuite experience is preferred.
• Experience in nuclear energy, utilities, construction, infrastructure, or another highly regulated industrial sector.
