Director, Investment Accounting (Insurance)

What you will do

• Lead the investment accounting function for all asset classes in the consolidated portfolios of the company, subsidiaries, and affiliates.
• Oversee GAAP and statutory accounting, including accurate month-end, quarter-end, and annual reporting for investment assets, liabilities, income, and expenses.
• Manage and develop a team of investment accounting professionals, including goal setting, work review, and policy communication.
• Build relationships with auditors, vendors, financial reporting, tax, treasury, investment operations, and other business partners.
• Develop process improvement initiatives involving automation, emerging technologies, reporting, and stronger controls.
• Support business indicators, metrics, analytical reports, investment strategies, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of related experience in investment accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, process improvement, and accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Experience with US GAAP accounting and/or statutory reporting.
• Investment accounting experience in insurance or another regulated financial services organization.
• Ability to identify and resolve financial issues while managing multiple priorities.
• Ability and willingness to adopt generative AI and automation tools responsibly to improve reporting efficiency, effectiveness, and control quality.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA or equivalent professional certification.
• Experience managing multi-site or remote contributors.
• Experience with diverse asset classes or private credit portfolios.
