Director of Accounting

Location: Oak Brook, Illinois, United States; hybrid workplace

Salary: $190,000–$230,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Lead corporate accounting functions including the general ledger, technical accounting, consolidation, general accounting, and rebate accounting.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Oversee consolidation of international entities, including elimination entries, foreign currency translation, and integration activities.
• Direct external financial statement preparation and footnote disclosures in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Lead accounting policy development, technical accounting research, internal controls, audit coordination, and regulatory adoption.
• Advise senior leadership, support M&A and purchase accounting, improve accounting operations, and develop the accounting organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• At least 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
• Experience managing and developing teams through subordinate managers.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, close processes, international consolidation, general ledger management, and corporate accounting operations.
• Experience leading external audit engagements and working with external auditors.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and cross-functional influencing skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in a private equity-owned or high-growth environment.
• Background in manufacturing, distribution, or similarly complex operational environments.
• Experience with multinational consolidations, foreign currency, M&A integration, purchase accounting, technical accounting documentation, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Experience driving process improvements, organizational change, and scalable accounting practices.
