Accounting Manager

Location: San Diego, California; in-office. Candidates must be U.S. persons and independently authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 per year, plus stock options and benefits.

What you will do

• Own and continuously improve monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, financial statements, and general-ledger transactions.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash reconciliations, fixed assets, inventory, and other accounting operations.
• Develop accounting procedures and internal controls for a rapidly scaling company.
• Support manufacturing, work-in-process, cost accounting, and government-contract accounting requirements.
• Participate in ERP implementation, process automation, budgeting, cash forecasting, management reporting, and team development.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with operating-company, public, fractional, or outsourced accounting.
• Experience in defense, aerospace, government contracting, or a closely related industry.
• Experience supporting external financial statement audits and owning or significantly contributing to month-end close.
• Strong attention to detail, independent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Must be a U.S. person and independently authorized to work in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• CPA or CPA candidacy.
• ERP implementation, migration, or accounting-system redesign experience.
• Manufacturing, inventory, or cost-accounting experience.
• Experience with venture-backed or high-growth companies.
• Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, DCAA, government-contract accounting, or related compliance requirements.
