EHS Manager (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Akron, Ohio, United States; regular presence in plant operations areas is required.

hirify.global manufactures specialty chemicals and materials and operates an Advanced Materials Division site in Akron.

What you will do

• Lead and maintain the site's Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate requirements, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, TSCA, and ACC Responsible Care standards.
• Advise site leadership on environmental, health, safety, process safety, and security matters.
• Lead accident, injury, incident, and hazard investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Oversee environmental compliance, reporting, audits, assessments, training programs, emergency response drills, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Supervise two employees and oversee two contractors while collaborating with leadership, department managers, employees, regulators, and community stakeholders.

Requirements

• Unrestricted right to work for hirify.global in the United States.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field; an associate degree with 5+ years of relevant EHS experience may be considered instead.
• Experience managing environmental, health, and safety programs in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of environmental, health, safety, and process safety regulations and compliance requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, planning, project management, analytical, technical problem-solving, coaching, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, implement mitigation strategies, and coordinate requirements across multiple functions.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of experience in the chemical industry.
• Experience with OSHA and environmental agency reporting requirements.
• Experience with OSHA Process Safety Management, Process Hazard Analysis, and Management of Change programs.
• Experience leading EHS management systems in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
• Experience with KMS or Cority environmental and safety management software.
