EHS Specialist (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Simpsonville, South Carolina, USA — onsite. The plant operates five days per week, 24 hours per day, and the role requires up to 10% travel to other facilities and corporate audits.

Salary: $85,000–$125,000 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Lead the facility’s environmental, health, safety, security, and sustainability management systems and corporate programs.
• Develop and deliver employee safety and environmental compliance training, lead the site Safety Team, and promote employee engagement.
• Investigate accidents, injuries, and near misses; conduct audits and inspections; and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Manage environmental permits, inspections, sampling, regulatory reporting, hazardous waste activities, and sustainability initiatives.
• Conduct industrial hygiene assessments and exposure monitoring, maintaining chemical inventories and the Chemical Hygiene Plan.
• Support process safety programs, including HAZOP reviews, process hazard assessments, engineering controls, and Management of Change activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DHS, Responsible Care, Risk Management Programs, Process Safety Management, and related regulations.
• Experience developing and delivering EHS training and investigating accidents and incidents.
• Strong project management, leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of U.S. security regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced chemical manufacturing environment, wear required PPE, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience in chemical manufacturing or another highly regulated industrial environment.
• Experience with industrial hygiene assessments, exposure monitoring, environmental permitting, or sustainability reporting.
• Familiarity with HAZOP, MOC, PSM, regulatory compliance audits, SWPPP, SPCC, and NAD stormwater management.
• CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, or a similar professional certification.
