Cyber Claim Counsel (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States

Annual base salary: $111,600–$184,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Investigate, analyze, evaluate, and resolve cyber and specialty insurance claims and related litigation.
• Prepare management reports covering loss development, financial exposure, reserves, coverage issues, claim strategies, and recovery strategies.
• Retain and manage outside counsel using litigation management plans and budgets.
• Advise underwriting and claim colleagues on significant exposures, policy interpretation, coverage, and applicable law.
• Negotiate settlements, review releases and settlement agreements, and coordinate recovery opportunities.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, claim conferences, trials, depositions, field office visits, broker visits, and risk mitigation seminars.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate degree.
• Authorization, registration, and good standing to practice law in the jurisdiction where the role is performed.
• At least two years of relevant legal experience; five or more years of relevant legal or claim-handling experience is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate coverage determinations.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze data, resolve conflicts, negotiate within authority limits, and build collaborative relationships.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required adjuster licenses.
