TL;DR
Associate General Counsel, Cyber & Privacy Legal (Cybersecurity): Leading legal strategy for cybersecurity incidents, regulatory compliance, and technology agreements within a global financial institution with an accent on incident response, cyber-risk management, and financial-services regulations. Focus on coordinating multi-jurisdictional response, advising senior leaders under pressure, and aligning contractual controls with enterprise risk and regulatory expectations.

Location: New York, United States; primarily in the office

Base salary: $170,000–$200,000 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus.

What you will do

  • Advise on U.S. and global cybersecurity regulations affecting financial institutions.
  • Act as the primary legal contact for regulatory examinations, supervisory requests, and cybersecurity reporting obligations.
  • Lead legal strategy for complex, multi-jurisdictional incidents involving ransomware, data breaches, network intrusions, and vendor incidents.
  • Develop enterprise incident-response protocols, tabletop exercises, crisis-management structures, and regulatory-notification workflows.
  • Draft and negotiate vendor- and client-facing technology and cybersecurity agreements.
  • Advise the CISO organization, technology leadership, and operational risk teams on cyber and data-risk strategy.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and an active license to practice law.
  • 10+ years of legal experience, including incident response and cyber-risk management in a complex, highly regulated organization.
  • Deep knowledge of cybersecurity laws, regulations, and regulatory expectations applicable to financial services.
  • Extensive experience drafting and negotiating technology and cybersecurity-related contracts.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and crisis-management skills, including the ability to advise senior leaders under pressure.
  • Collaborative, adaptive, and business-focused approach.

Nice to have

  • CIPP-US, CISSP, or another cybersecurity or privacy certification.
