Staff Firmware Engineer (Robotics)

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Develop and debug firmware for hirify.global robot motion control, stabilization, sensor integration, and Ethernet communication.
• Design drivers for motors, sensors, microcontrollers, peripherals, and communication protocols.
• Develop and test real-time control algorithms for robotic movement and balance.
• Optimize embedded firmware for performance, reliability, power efficiency, security, and fail-safe operation.
• Collaborate with hardware and systems teams on platform integration.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and maintain technical documentation and version control.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in embedded systems development, preferably in robotics.
• Proficiency in C and C++ for microcontrollers, with experience in RTOS such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr and bare-metal systems.
• Hands-on experience with ARM Cortex, STM32, or similar platforms.
• Experience with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet communication protocols.
• Strong understanding of control systems, kinematics, and motion algorithms.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, Git, CI/CD, and Agile methodologies.

Nice to have

• Experience with ROS or ROS 2, machine learning, or computer vision.
• Experience with or interest in Rust for embedded systems.
