Staff Firmware Engineer (Embedded): Designing and developing firmware for secure identity issuance systems with an accent on embedded control of motors, sensors, and vision systems. Location: Must be based in the US (Shakopee/Minneapolis, MN). Role requires five days in office for the first six months, then transitioning to a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite).

Salary: $129,650 – $190,153 per year

What you will do

• Design system firmware and product architecture for embedded controller systems.
• Develop, code, test, and debug firmware for digital, analog, RF, power, and motion control systems.
• Perform hardware/software integration and participate in design and code reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to perform design trade-offs and communicate project status.
• Create product enhancements and resolve technical issues through evaluation and code modification.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of engineering policies, practices, and standards.

Requirements

• Unrestricted work authorization for the US is required.
• 8+ years of experience in embedded software, hardware, or firmware product development.
• 6+ years of extensive experience with C and C++ in an embedded environment.
• Experience with Embedded Linux, VxWorks, or other real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Experience using Yocto Project/OpenEmbedded for Linux system development.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Experience in Linux kernel development.
• Knowledge of motor control, smartcard technology, color printing, or RFID technology.
• Experience with security concepts including encryption, PKI, and vulnerability mitigation.
• Proficiency using AI tools for code generation, analysis, and documentation.
