Party Chief (Surveying)

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; field-based work across Ohio/Pennsylvania

Salary: USD $25.00–$27.00 per hour

What you will do

• Manage, instruct, and train survey crews of 1–5 people, including assigning work and monitoring performance.
• Complete boundary, topographic, ALTA, GPS, hydrographic, and control surveys for large commercial construction projects.
• Operate, adjust, maintain, and prepare robotic total stations, levels, theodolites, electronic measuring devices, and data collection systems.
• Prepare field sketches, drawings, field notes, and level notes in accordance with survey standards.
• Perform surveying calculations, read construction plans and specifications, and apply construction staking practices.
• Follow safety policies and PPE requirements while maintaining positive client and public relations in the field.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of experience as a Crew Leader or Party Chief.
• Experience with construction staking and data collection systems.
• Basic GPS operations and proficiency with a Robotic Total Station.
• Knowledge of survey technology, basic civil engineering concepts, measurement errors, and construction staking.
• High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.
• Effective written and oral communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and decision-making skills.

Nice to have

• Surveying license or LSIT.
• Strong experience with complex surveying calculations.
• Experience with Trimble or similar software.
• Commercial construction experience.
