Instrument Operator – Survey

Location: Columbus, Ohio, United States; onsite field work with occasional out-of-town and overnight travel.

Civil engineering and land surveying firm providing horizontal and vertical survey services with field teams equipped for construction and development projects.

What you will do

• Support site construction staking and capture survey coordinates, elevations, angles, points, and contours.
• Operate Trimble robotic instruments, GPS equipment, level rods, and prism poles to collect survey observations.
• Maintain survey equipment and supplies, and transport stakes, pins, paint, poles, and other materials to development sites.
• Assist with field data collection, clearing lines of sight, measuring underground structures, and other survey activities.
• Compile notes and records of collected survey data and completed work.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: 2–3 years of land surveying experience, including data collection, robotic total stations, and GPS.
• Must be legally authorized and permitted to work in the United States without restrictions or time limitations.
• Ability to work outdoors year-round in varied weather and to walk, stand, bend, squat, and work on rough or uneven terrain.
• Ability to carry 40–50 lb. supplies or equipment and lift and move 60–100 lb. manholes using hooks.
• Ability to use sledgehammers and brush-cutting tools and wear required PPE, including hard hat, gloves, boots, safety vest, and high-visibility clothing.
