Survey Crew Chief

Location: Tucson, Arizona, United States; periodic out-of-town work is required, typically 2–3 days once every 3 months.

Salary: $29.00–$38.50 per hour

What you will do

• Lead and direct land survey crews in the field.
• Perform construction performance, topographical, boundary, and aerial control surveys.
• Use and maintain total stations, GPS systems, and related survey equipment.
• Perform coordinate geometry calculations and prepare cut sheets.
• Read construction plans and coordinate effectively with clients and contractors.
• Travel periodically for out-of-town survey assignments.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience as a Party Crew Chief, plus an associate degree in surveying or equivalent experience of seven years.
• Experience with construction performance, topographical, boundary, and aerial control surveys.
• Ability to direct the work of others and perform coordinate geometry calculations using a handheld programmable calculator.
• Familiarity with total stations and GPS systems, including their use and maintenance.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for 8–10 hours per day, and swing an 8 lb. sledgehammer.
• Dependability, teamwork, client and contractor communication skills, and a good driving record.

Nice to have

• LSIT or RLS certification.
• Experience with Trimble Access.
• Interest in extended out-of-town work.
