Mechanical Design Engineer (Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Interpret project specifications, write-ups, pricing, correspondence, schedules, manpower needs, and material requirements.
• Create machinery drawings, plans, shop and supplier fabrication drawings, composite drawings, submittal drawings, and approval drawings.
• Design practical equipment within project timelines, estimated labor hours, and material costs.
• Perform engineering calculations and analysis using spreadsheets, calculators, and software applications.
• Provide technical support to production, testing, and sales throughout quoting, build, and completion stages.
• Coordinate switchgear and cabling designs with electrical engineers and clarify unresolved engineering questions.

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 months of related work experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD, ProE, or SolidWorks and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
• General knowledge of diesel- and natural-gas-fueled engines and familiarity with MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, independent judgment, and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Willingness to travel, including internationally, when necessary.

Nice to have

• Experience with new product introductions and technical or process transfers to new suppliers.
• Experience with Windchill PLM.
• Specialization in structural sheet metal and wind-load calculations.
• Background in electrical power generation and the engine-generator-set industry.
• Experience in the data center industry.
