Design Engineer - Senior

Location: New Hudson, Michigan, United States. Work is typically performed in a team-based office environment. Core hours are 8am–4pm, with an average of approximately 45 hours per week; some travel may be required.

Salary: $82,900–$134,300 per year across U.S. locations.

What you will do

• Design and develop vehicle and product systems, including mechanical concepts, components, packaging, and system physics models.
• Apply linear-static finite element analysis to optimize designs and substantiate lower-level engineering decisions.
• Create technical drawings, specifications, testing methods, procedures, and DVP&R documentation.
• Prepare and present project status reports while supporting customer problem resolution and project execution.
• Support manufacturing by answering technical questions and responding to engineering change requests.
• Provide system-level technical direction, guide lower-level engineers, and act as a primary customer contact in selected scenarios.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• At least 8 years of engineering employment experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Experience with parametric 3D modeling and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Strong technical writing, verbal and written communication, teamwork, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to support technicians and shop builds and operate simple hand tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with Creo, NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks.
• Experience with ANSYS, HyperMesh, or another FEA tool.
• Experience with Windchill product lifecycle management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
