Senior NPI Mechanical Engineer (Gas Turbines)

Location: San Diego, California; onsite five days per week

Salary: $112,704–$169,056 per year

What you will do

• Drive new product introduction for turbomachinery products from concept through beneficial use using agile development processes.
• Develop design concepts, conduct trade studies, and execute detailed mechanical design using 3D models and engineering drawings.
• Create and maintain bills of materials and product documentation for manufacturing and traceability.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams on procurement, fabrication, and first-article builds.
• Investigate field issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions and continuous improvements.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability, durability, quality, and cost.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of structural mechanics and mechanical design principles.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as Creo and PLM systems such as Windchill.
• Knowledge of engineering drawing standards and GD&T.
• Ability to work onsite in San Diego five days per week.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with gas turbine systems and their operation.
• Experience with Ansys SpaceClaim and configurable or linked data structures.
• Practical understanding of solid and fluid mechanics.
• Familiarity with agile development processes.
