Staff Mechanical Engineer (Nuclear)

What you will do

• Design and analyze mechanical systems and components for operating nuclear plants, new builds, and advanced reactor projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, modification packages, reports, and technical documentation.
• Perform structural integrity and performance analyses and apply relevant engineering codes and standards, including ASME and ANSI.
• Diagnose mechanical equipment failures, support root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
• Review vendor documentation, participate in design reviews and technical meetings, and collaborate with civil/structural, electrical, and instrumentation and controls engineers.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support quality assurance and quality control programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Engineering in Training license.
• At least 8 years of engineering experience with strong mechanical engineering knowledge.
• Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ANSYS.
• Must be capable of obtaining security clearance for unescorted access to a nuclear station.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license.
• Previous causal analysis and qualified standard design experience.
• Familiarity with AI-augmented engineering simulation tools, digital twins, and IoT-integrated monitoring systems.
