Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Fabrication (Nuclear)

Location: Torrance, California, United States, at hirify.global' manufacturing and production facility in the Los Angeles area. The role involves hands-on work with technicians, machinists, welders, and inspectors.

Salary: $140,000–$185,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own fabrication processes for critical reactor components from initial development through qualified production.
• Develop and improve welding, CNC machining, metal forming, additive manufacturing, brazing, and diffusion bonding processes.
• Convert first-of-a-kind hardware designs into robust, repeatable production processes.
• Partner with design and materials engineering on manufacturability, material selection, joint configuration, tolerances, and requirements.
• Define manufacturing sequences, tooling, inspection methods, process controls, work instructions, and qualification documentation.
• Lead process qualification, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, make-versus-buy decisions, and the transition from development builds to production.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, materials, welding, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, fabrication, manufacturing process development, or complex hardware development.
• Technical depth in welding, CNC machining, metal forming, brazing, metal additive manufacturing, or another advanced metallic fabrication or joining process.
• Experience independently developing, troubleshooting, qualifying, and implementing manufacturing processes for complex hardware.
• Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, material specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations under export regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with aerospace or nuclear reactor components, pressure vessels, fuel systems, thermal systems, or reactor instrumentation and controls.
• Knowledge of ASME Section III, NQA-1, or comparable nuclear quality requirements.
• Experience with PFMEA, process capability studies, statistical process control, value-stream mapping, capacity analysis, or special-process validation.
• Experience transitioning safety-critical, low-volume prototype hardware into repeatable production.
• Familiarity with MES, ERP/MRP, PLM, and digital work-instruction systems.
