What you will do

• Design and support 115kV–500kV transmission and distribution line projects, including new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber-optic attachments.
• Prepare preliminary designs, budgetary estimates, material lists, structure framing details, and construction specifications.
• Develop plan and profile drawings, complete construction design packages, work lists, staking tables, and stringing sag charts.
• Coordinate environmental, licensing, real estate, equipment delivery, client review, and construction scheduling requirements.
• Perform engineering calculations and check completed designs for safety, performance, adequacy, and documentation quality.
• Monitor construction activities, interpret plans and specifications, support site investigations, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical transmission line design engineering.
• Proficiency with power line and structure modeling tools, including PLSCADD and associated POLE and TOWER modules.
• Experience with Excel, MFAD or L-PILE, and NESC requirements.
• Familiarity with electric utility industry codes, standards, and practices, plus strong communication, initiative, leadership, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work from Phoenix, Arizona and support on-site design, investigation, and construction monitoring activities.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or eligibility to become certified as a professional engineer.
• Knowledge of ACI, the ASCE Pole Manual, and the AISC Steel Manual.
