Civil Engineer (Infrastructure)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; field work and travel of up to 50% required

Salary: USD 65,000–85,000 per year, plus potential participation in an annual discretionary bonus program.

What you will do

• Support infrastructure development projects involving studies, reports, plans, specifications, schedules, budgets, and cost estimates.
• Contribute to planning, modeling, and design for rail yards, water and wastewater treatment plants, pump and lift stations, utilities, drainage, hydraulics, hydrology, and site plans.
• Assist senior staff with technical memorandums, project documentation, and engineering deliverables.
• Support construction management through material submittal reviews, build reviews, and contractor coordination.
• Conduct site visits, surveys, inspections, and infrastructure data collection and assessment.
• Build effective working relationships with engineers, designers, specialists, municipalities, clients, contractors, and public agencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in civil infrastructure design and/or construction.
• Experience with computer-aided engineering and design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or GIS.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; flexibility, organization, accountability, and dependability.
• Physical ability to perform field work, willingness to travel up to 50%, and a valid driver license.

Nice to have

• Active Engineer in Training certification or progress toward completing it.
• Construction inspection or field engineering experience.
• Interest in long-term growth toward Professional Engineer licensure.
