Laboratory Technician I (Lateral Flow Diagnostics)

Location: Cambridge, UK; on-site role

Salary: £25,000–£45,000 per year

What you will do

• Fabricate lateral flow strips for devices, bench work, R&D studies, and production while maintaining batch and associated records.
• Prepare and qualify biochemical reagents and assemble diagnostic devices according to work instructions and SOPs.
• Support the development, optimization, and scale-up of manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on process improvements and efficient manufacturing operations.
• Investigate deviations and non-conformances, perform root cause analyses, and support corrective and preventive actions.
• Organize data, analyze results, communicate findings, and author protocols, test reports, work instructions, and SOPs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with 0–1 years of experience; 1–2 years of relevant life-sciences manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Awareness of GLP, ISO 13485, and GMP quality standards.
• Experience following work instructions or SOPs and operating laboratory equipment such as pipettes, centrifuges, and laminar flow hoods.
• Strong communication, collaboration, interpersonal, and detail-oriented skills.
• Ability to lift 15 kg and stand for extended periods when required.
• This is an on-site role in Cambridge, UK.

Nice to have

• Experience with lateral flow strip manufacturing equipment such as Biodot or similar systems.
• Experience in a 6S environment or a medical-device or other regulated industry.
