Senior Scientist, Analytical Chemistry (Maternity Cover) (NGS)

Location: Onsite in Cambridge, United Kingdom, based at hirify.global's European Headquarters. This is a 1-year fixed-term maternity cover position and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Salary: GBP 36,200–54,200 per year, plus eligibility for variable cash programs and equity for eligible roles.

What you will do

• Prepare and analyze samples using HPLC and LC-MS.
• Develop and optimize analytical methods for characterizing materials and processes.
• Interpret experimental data, contribute to scientific understanding, and share knowledge.
• Maintain analytical instrumentation, methods, and standard operating procedures.
• Communicate experimental plans, results, and conclusions through reports and presentations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary research, development, and scientific teams to support NGS product development.

Requirements

• PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline, or a BSc with substantial relevant industrial or applied research experience.
• Industrial analytical chemistry experience in product development, manufacturing, or applied research.
• Significant hands-on expertise in HPLC and LC-MS, with strong theoretical and practical analytical chemistry knowledge.
• Ability to work independently, stay organized, and deliver high-quality results within agreed timelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to have

• Experience developing analytical methods and analyzing oligonucleotides.
• Experience with Agilent OpenLab or MassHunter software.
