Associate Scientist (Biotechnology)

Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom; on-site, full-time lab-based role

What you will do

• Produce recombinant monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, cell lines, and lysates according to workload and project requirements.
• Maintain laboratory quality standards, documentation, and audit readiness in line with ISO9001.
• Transfer emerging technologies from R&D into manufacturing and develop robust, scalable processes.
• Optimize established protocols to improve process performance, efficiency, and quality.
• Mentor and coach junior colleagues while supporting a collaborative team environment.
• Investigate complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective countermeasures using continuous improvement practices such as 5S and Lean Six Sigma.

Requirements

• Degree in Life Sciences or equivalent extensive biotechnology industry experience.
• Strong cell culture experience and practical expertise in recombinant antibody production.
• Strong protein purification background and chromatography experience using an ÄKTA system.
• Experience optimizing, troubleshooting, and improving established protocols.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, multitasking, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• People management experience or previous seniority.
