Associate Director, Solution Architecture (AI)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts; hybrid Flex Persona for candidates local to the Boston office

Salary: $198,090–$242,110 per year, plus variable pay

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of solution architects while supporting technical growth and career development.
• Build hands-on proofs of concept for emerging technologies, including AI, machine learning, and intelligent agents.
• Set technology direction for the digital solutions portfolio and improve the performance of member-facing applications.
• Govern architecture for mobile and web applications, ensuring performance, security, scalability, and alignment with enterprise standards.
• Establish architectural best practices and resolve complex technical issues.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, Data, business leaders, and development teams.

Requirements

• Experience leading and mentoring architects while maintaining strong hands-on technical capability.
• Enterprise-scale architecture and delivery experience for mobile and/or web applications, including coding POCs and detailed design work.
• Strong knowledge of APIs, microservices, cloud architecture, secure cloud environments, AWS, and PaaS.
• Practical experience applying AI and machine learning in digital solutions, along with modern security and IAM practices.
• 10+ years of technology leadership experience, including 3–5 years in formal people management.
• Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience, with strong presentation, facilitation, organizational, and strategic decision-making skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Android Native, iOS Native, React Native, Angular, Drupal, Akamai, F5, Apigee, Spring Boot, Confluent Kafka, relational and NoSQL databases, and observability platforms.
• Experience with LoadRunner, JMeter, Gatling, Splunk Observability, New Relic, CloudWatch, Performance Insights, LogRocket, and BrowserStack.
