Environmental Technician

Location: Edwardsville, Illinois, USA; onsite work at a landfill

Pay: $20.35–$28.00 per hour, with the actual range depending on the hiring locality.

What you will do

• Operate, monitor, and maintain landfill gas extraction systems, leachate collection systems, and related equipment.
• Conduct or assist with groundwater, surface water, air quality, and gas migration sampling.
• Measure and record gas levels in landfill well fields and boundary probes to support regulatory compliance.
• Troubleshoot gas extraction and leachate systems and escalate complex issues to management.
• Perform landfill surveying activities and prepare required environmental and operational reports.
• Follow applicable safety regulations and federal and state requirements in all site activities.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working at a site regulated by OSHA.
• Good time management, communication, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to communicate operating issues to management and follow company safety policies.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in compliance with federal and state requirements.
