Purchasing Manager (Manufacturing): Managing end-to-end procurement of raw materials and finished goods for a growing manufacturing organisation with an accent on supplier performance, cost efficiency, supply continuity, and Microsoft Dynamics ERP ownership. Focus on negotiating supplier terms, managing supply risks, sourcing materials for new products, and leading a small purchasing team.
Location: Chester-le-Street, United Kingdom; predominantly on site with some work from home available after the probationary period
Salary: £45,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience

What you will do
- Manage procurement of raw materials and finished goods, including demand planning, purchase orders, delivery tracking, and supply issue resolution.
- Negotiate supplier pricing, terms, and contracts while managing supplier performance, risk, quality, and commercial escalations.
- Source components and materials for new product development and support specification, costing, feasibility, samples, trials, and validation.
- Lead and develop a team of two Purchasing Administrators, allocating workloads and conducting 1:1s and performance reviews.
- Act as the purchasing lead user for Microsoft Dynamics, supporting ERP queries, system accuracy, upgrades, and collaboration with IT.
- Provide purchasing data, reports, and forecasts while monitoring market trends, pricing, supply chain risks, compliance, and process improvements.
Requirements
- Proven experience in purchasing or procurement, ideally within manufacturing, engineering, automotive, or industrial sectors.
- Hands-on experience using an ERP system for purchasing; confidence with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with supplier negotiation and management, ideally involving international or overseas suppliers.
- Strong negotiation, relationship management, commercial, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with technical, commercial, and operational teams.
