Senior Engineering Manager - Data (AWS)

What you will do

• Lead multiple Data Engineering Managers, BI Engineering Managers, and Lead Engineers across an organisation of around 40 engineers and analysts.
• Build, develop, coach, and retain high-performing engineering teams and leaders.
• Shape data engineering strategy, technical direction, cloud adoption, platform modernisation, and technical debt management.
• Oversee the delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable data platforms, pipelines, and products.
• Champion modern engineering practices across quality, resilience, operational performance, Agile delivery, and DevSecOps.
• Partner with Architecture, Product, Technology, and business stakeholders to translate priorities into engineering outcomes.

Requirements

• Significant experience leading large-scale data engineering organisations in modern technology environments.
• Experience building and delivering data platforms, pipelines, and products at scale.
• Previous hands-on Data Engineering experience and strong knowledge of modern engineering practices.
• Experience with AWS and cloud-based data platforms, Teradata, Fivetran, Power BI, and modern data integration tooling.
• Experience in Agile, DevSecOps, product-led delivery, multi-cloud, or complex enterprise data environments.
• Strong strategic thinking, operational delivery, stakeholder management, senior-level influence, and people-development skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in retail, eCommerce, financial services, or another data-rich organisation.
• Business Intelligence and analytical engineering experience.
