Survey Instrument Operator

Location: Midlothian, Texas, primarily; potential flexibility for Frisco, Dallas, or Fort Worth. Full-time field role with outdoor work, night shifts as needed, and travel up to 50%.

Salary: $47,959–$54,498 per year.

What you will do

• Support field surveying for transportation, civil, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
• Set up and operate Trimble GPS, Robotic Total Stations, Trimble Access, and related survey tools.
• Assist the party chief with boundary and right-of-way retracement, TxDOT mapping, topographic and route surveys, rail and dam monitoring, level runs, and construction layout.
• Measure angles, distances, and elevations and interpret plans, electronic drawings, survey data, and construction layout information.
• Identify field issues, communicate hazards, complete project HASPs, and follow required safety procedures.
• Maintain, clean, organize, and properly store equipment and field materials.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in surveying, construction layout, civil engineering, or a related field environment is preferred.
• Working knowledge of construction staking, level loops, boundary or topographic surveying, or field layout practices.
• Basic math skills and the ability to understand construction terminology, plans, measurements, and field instructions.
• Ability to use common construction materials, hand tools, power tools, and survey equipment.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, work night shifts when required, travel up to 50%, and perform physically demanding tasks including work in confined spaces.
• Reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and minimum age of 18 are required.
