Salary: $20.00–$35.00 per hour.

What you will do

  • Provide roadway worker protection around live railroad tracks in controlled and non-controlled track areas.
  • Coordinate job sites and communicate with train dispatchers, engineers, RWIC supervisors, and work groups.
  • Ensure work groups remain clear of track limits and grant permission for trains and on-track equipment to proceed.
  • Conduct daily job briefings and enforce railroad safety requirements.
  • Prepare electronic job setup forms, daily work reports, invoices, and other required documentation.
  • Place warning signs and derails, handle equipment weighing 15–90 pounds, and complete recurring safety training.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as an RWIC with BNSF, or 15+ years of service with a Class I or Class II freight railroad.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of on-track safety procedures, railroad worker qualifications, warning systems, derails, and locking devices.
  • Proficiency in radio communication between RWIC/EIC personnel and assigned work groups.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, warn workers of approaching trains, and handle required safety equipment.
  • Proficiency with email, text messaging, and standard office applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.
