Safety Specialist (Stack)

Location: Portland, Oregon, United States. The role involves outdoor industrial work, travel to customer and project locations, and up to 50% domestic and international travel.

Salary: $70,000–$90,000 per year.

What you will do

• Standardize HSE practices and support continuous improvement across teams.
• Provide HSE support at refineries, chemical plants, power plants, testing facilities, and other customer locations.
• Audit written safety programs, track corrective actions, and support local offices with compliance tasks.
• Inspect workplaces and activities for compliance with federal, state, local, and OSHA requirements.
• Investigate and document incidents, develop corrective actions, and report HSE KPIs.
• Develop safety communications, training modules, posters, meeting materials, and driver safety dashboards.

Requirements

• Degree in Safety, Environmental studies, or a related field.
• 1–5 years of relevant safety work experience.
• Knowledge of federal and state OSHA requirements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related business applications.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to work at elevated platforms, climb ladders and stairs, wear a respirator, and walk on uneven surfaces.

Nice to have

• Experience in stack testing.
• Health or industrial hygiene experience.
• Hands-on training experience.
• OSHA 30-hour training.
