Sr. Middle Market Commercial Underwriter, Account Executive Officer

Location: Independence, Ohio, United States; regular in-person meetings with agents and brokers and travel required.

Annual base salary: $109,300–$180,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentives.

What you will do

• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned commercial book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Develop and execute agency and regional sales plans with internal partners and the Managing Director.
• Build relationships with agents and brokers, market insurance products, and identify new business opportunities.
• Identify cross-selling opportunities across property, general liability, commercial auto, workers’ compensation, and umbrella coverage.
• Support training and mentoring for less experienced Account Executives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience, including commercial lines experience; at least four years of experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance.
• Deep knowledge of commercial lines products, regulatory requirements, and the local insurance market.
• Strong critical-thinking, analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
• CPCU designation.
• Ability to meet agents and brokers in person and travel for business meetings.
