Electrical Engineering Designer (Industrial Electrical Design)

Location: Wilmington, Delaware, United States; occasional site visits required.

What you will do

• Develop and revise electrical design deliverables, including single-line diagrams, schematics, panel schedules, lighting plans, cable tray layouts, grounding, and related drawings.
• Support Front-End Loading design activities for industrial and chemical plant projects.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, designers, drafters, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Review contractor-produced drawings, provide technical feedback, and verify constructability and compliance with engineering standards.
• Participate in design reviews and maintain organized project documentation.
• Conduct occasional site visits to verify existing conditions.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Drafting & Design, CAD, Engineering Technology, or a related field with 3–5 years of industrial electrical design experience, or 10+ years of relevant industrial drafting and design experience.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality design documentation.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to follow engineering processes, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial process facilities and familiarity with PFDs, P&IDs, and system diagrams.
• Experience with Instrumentation & Controls design.
• Experience with E3D, Autodesk Inventor, SKM PowerTools, Autodesk DOCS, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with intelligent, database-driven CAD and design systems.
