Designer I (Electrical Design)

Location: Phoenix, Arizona, United States

Salary: $32–37 per hour, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Perform CAD design and drafting using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Analyze technical specifications and create physical and electrical designs, bills of materials, and job estimates.
• Prepare one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts for protection, control, and automation equipment.
• Review vendor drawings and integrate equipment into design packages.
• Collaborate with engineers, technical leads, project managers, and field teams during project execution.
• Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, documentation, and quality control.

Requirements

• Three or more years of relevant electrical design experience, including projects involving protective relay protection and control systems.
• Demonstrated CAD drafting competency with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Understanding of installation requirements for protective relays of different types and functions.
• Ability to work with moderate technical supervision, take ownership of assigned responsibilities, and learn new concepts and skills.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills, with the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Willingness to travel as needed; satisfactory background check and negative drug test required.

Nice to have

• Experience testing and commissioning protective relay, process control, and SCADA control systems.
• Electrical utility, consulting, or system integrator experience.
• Knowledge of protective relay and automation applications.
