Designer Prin

Location: Columbus, OH, United States; occasional overnight travel and work in substations or power plants may be required.

Salary: $42.13–$52.67 per hour.

What you will do

• Develop, review, approve, and coordinate electrical design drawings, models, sketches, and technical packages.
• Prepare single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, equipment layouts, interface details, and electrical physical drawings.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers to ensure design intent is accurately reflected in drawings and models.
• Review vendor and OEM drawings, shop details, and submittals for completeness, constructability, and interface alignment.
• Support construction, commissioning, and closeout through design clarifications, field change evaluations, redlines, and as-built updates.
• Provide work direction, coordinate others’ work, lead basic-skills training, and prepare progress reports and estimates.

Requirements

• Associate degree in applied science in drafting and design CAD, or in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology, plus at least 7 years of equivalent experience.
• Alternatively, a high school diploma and 10 years of experience in electric utility or related industrial drafting and computer-aided drafting work.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, computer-aided design software, and Microsoft Office.
• Working knowledge of power generation electrical systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, station service, UPS/DC systems, and grounding.
• Ability to use conventional drafting symbols and methods, distinguish colors, prepare calculations and design studies, and perform design verification.
• Valid state driver’s license, ability to operate a company vehicle, and compliance with applicable vehicle-operation requirements; shift work or overtime may be required.
