High Voltage Engineer

What you will do

• Serve as the technical authority and subject matter expert for substations, medium-to-high voltage switchgear, and 2.4kV to 35kV+ campus distribution networks.
• Develop a 5-to-10-year electrical infrastructure master plan with cost-benefit analyses for switchgear, transformer, and substation modernization.
• Provide engineering guidance to high-voltage technicians, electricians, and field crews during troubleshooting and emergency repairs.
• Review engineering packages, technical submittals, one-line diagrams, protection and coordination studies, and system retrofit designs.
• Oversee arc flash studies, equipment condition analysis, and compliance with site safety mandates.
• Coordinate with government representatives, contractors, project partners, and technical staff while preparing milestone and status reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or BSEE from an ABET-accredited institution.
• At least 5–7 years of experience in high-voltage power distribution, substation engineering, or heavy industrial electrical systems.
• Experience with federal and California facility electrical distribution infrastructure, medium-to-high voltage switchgear, and campus-wide distribution networks.
• Detailed knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
• Current NFPA 70E / Arc Flash Training is required.
• Strong communication, presentation, organization, prioritization, problem-solving, and independent-working skills.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• NASA, federal, state, or local government experience.
• Experience calibrating and setting electromechanical and solid-state relays.
• Customer relationship management experience.
