Damage Prevention Technician (Natural Gas)

Location: KMD-Johnson City, United States. Onsite outdoor field work is required, with possible overnight travel and a residence requirement due to call-out response time.

Starting rate: $26.50 per hour

What you will do

• Locate and accurately mark natural gas transmission, distribution, service lines, and other company facilities.
• Read and interpret system maps and maintain accurate damage-prevention maps and records.
• Coordinate with company crews, outside contractors, excavators, municipalities, and internal excavation personnel to prevent facility damage.
• Investigate natural gas facility damage, determine root causes, and report suspected system damage.
• Prepare accurate records and reports for company and regulatory requirements, and address safety and encroachment issues.
• Operate and inspect assigned vehicles and equipment safely; support service, construction, and maintenance work when needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in natural gas, damage prevention, service, construction and maintenance, or pipeline operations.
• Thorough understanding of company operations and strong interpersonal, communication, persuasion, and influencing skills.
• Ability to use company web systems, upload digital photos to line-locate tickets, and perform data entry and information retrieval.
• Valid driver's license meeting company standards.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather, including rough terrain, high noise, and extreme temperatures; lift tools, equipment, and materials up to 45 pounds.
• Safety-sensitive position requiring pre- and post-employment screenings, DOT and PHMSA drug testing, and motor vehicle record checks.
