Operations Specialist 2

Location: Onsite at the Owego Compressor Station, 800 Robinson Road, Owego, New York, United States. The role includes overnight callouts, emergency response, shift work when applicable, and approximately one week of out-of-town travel per year.

Pay range: USD 33.13–46.95 per year.

What you will do

• Operate and maintain natural gas compressor units, electric motors, generators, pumps, valves, and related ancillary equipment.
• Start, stop, and operate centrifugal engine-driven compressors to maintain operating parameters and meet customer demands.
• Perform facility upkeep, routine maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and corrective action across onsite and remote locations.
• Support pipeline maintenance and project activities, including pigging, ILI, recoating, atmospheric painting, one-call locates, and damage prevention.
• Review facility operations, identify procedural improvements, and optimize equipment performance and operating costs.
• Complete operational reports, documentation, budget planning, forecasting, and coordination with service providers.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of relevant experience or equivalent military or private-sector training.
• Knowledge of gas compressor and transmission pipeline systems, operating costs, best practices, and high-pressure pipeline safety.
• Ability to read blueprints, P&IDs, and other technical diagrams.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, document, and complete work with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, basic math skills, computer skills, and strong verbal and written communication.
• Must be available for on-call duties, emergencies, overtime, after-hours work, and shift work when applicable; must pass a drug screen and background check.
