Health & Safety Specialist (Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Advise site leadership and operations teams on environmental, health, and safety programs, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Support risk identification and prevention initiatives aimed at achieving zero occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Lead annual regulatory audits and inspections, coordinate preparation, address findings, and work with regulatory agencies.
• Support occupational health programs covering respiratory protection, ergonomics, indoor air quality, and chemical exposure monitoring.
• Provide leadership for Process Safety Management programs and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Conduct incident investigations, root cause analyses, risk assessments, training, regulatory reporting, and compliance documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field with at least two years of relevant experience; alternatively, five years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of Process Safety Management and environmental, health, and safety management systems.
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safe work practices, including confined space entry, line breaking, lockout/tagout, respiratory protection, and occupational safety programs.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and compliance evaluations.
• Ability to collaborate across Operations, Maintenance, Training, Engineering, Technology, Research and Development, and corporate functions.
• Strong written and verbal communication, data analysis, risk evaluation, prioritization, and continuous improvement skills.

Nice to have

• Experience leading Process Safety Management initiatives in manufacturing or chemical processing.
• Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Safety Professional certification.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification and related experience.
