Health & Safety Specialist (Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Advise site leadership and operations teams on environmental, health, and safety programs and compliance requirements.
• Support risk identification and prevention initiatives aimed at eliminating occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Interpret federal, state, and local regulations and support implementation across four manufacturing units and a wastewater pH treatment facility.
• Lead annual regulatory audits and inspections, coordinate preparation, address findings, and work with regulatory agencies.
• Support occupational health programs covering respiratory protection, ergonomics, indoor air quality, and chemical exposure monitoring.
• Lead and support Process Safety Management, incident investigations, root cause analysis, training, risk assessments, reporting, and compliance documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Occupational Health, or a related discipline plus at least two years of relevant experience, or five years of relevant experience without the degree requirement.
• Experience in environmental, health, and safety work within manufacturing, operations, or research and development environments.
• Working knowledge of Process Safety Management and environmental, health, and safety management systems.
• Strong understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, including confined space entry, line breaking, lockout/tagout, respiratory protection, and occupational safety programs.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and compliance evaluations.
• Strong communication, data analysis, prioritization, procedure development, training, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience leading Process Safety Management initiatives in manufacturing or chemical processing.
• Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Safety Professional certification.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification and continuous improvement experience.
