Generator Systems Engineer (Power Systems)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days on site at N7650 County Rd LS, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, United States. Limited domestic and international travel of less than 10%. Relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $83,300–$105,200 per year.

What you will do

• Perform transient analysis and simulations of generator applications to optimize system sizing.
• Develop alternator diagnostic algorithms and provide modeling guidance using Simulink, SKM, and other power system tools.
• Validate first-article production machines with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support applications engineering with customer-specific issues and troubleshoot generator and alternator applications.
• Perform root cause failure analysis of alternator test failures and optimize power systems for performance and cost.
• Develop, maintain, and teach engineering best practices and power systems fundamentals.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• 3+ years of experience in an Electrical Engineering field.
• Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively and work independently.
• Motivation to learn electrical machines concepts; candidates without direct electrical machines experience may be considered.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with electric machine testing and coursework in electric machines.
• Experience with reference-frame (qd0) analysis, symmetrical component analysis, or islanded power systems.
• Experience with electromagnetic finite element tools such as Ansys Maxwell or Altair Flux.
