Senior Electrical Engineer - Relay Protection (Electrical Power Systems)

Location: Florham Park, New Jersey, USA; onsite with approximately 30% travel to facilities

What you will do

• Lead or support electrical plant engineering activities across 35+ thermomechanical treatment facilities.
• Review and approve one-line and three-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical calculation packages.
• Provide troubleshooting and technical resolution for high-, medium-, and low-voltage electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and relay protection.
• Analyze electrical failures using SEL Synchrowave Event Analyzer, GE EnerVista, and similar tools; develop root-cause analyses and corrective actions.
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, startup, construction projects, suppliers, contractors, and external engineering firms.
• Develop technical service bulletins and share reliability, availability, and electrical maintenance best practices with plant teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least 4 years of engineering experience in electrical power distribution and experience with high-, medium-, and low-voltage systems.
• Experience with power generation, utility plants, or large industrial facilities, including motors, MCCs, PDCs, substations, and process-plant electrical systems.
• Experience with microprocessor, solid-state, and electromechanical protective relaying schemes, relay settings, coordination, and relay-trip troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in electrical diagrams, technical reports, work packages, data analysis, and handling multiple concurrent assignments.
• EIT certification is required; PE license is preferred. Approximately 30% travel is required.
