Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Power Systems)

Location: USA - IL East Peoria Bldg A. The role is performed in an office and manufacturing shop environment and may require travel as needed.

Salary: $100,300–$160,500 per year.

What you will do

• Design custom low- and medium-voltage switchgear and control systems for multiple generators operating in parallel with utility sources.
• Interpret customer specifications, project documentation, drawings, and correspondence to develop project designs.
• Create AC and DC schematics, component layouts, wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams, construction drawings, and as-built documentation.
• Design and implement transfer, load management, generator, microgrid, and SCADA control schemes.
• Research and create bills of material, coordinate component specifications with purchasing and suppliers, and support manufacturing, testing, and product support.
• Conduct design reviews, resolve technical issues, and ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, NFPA, NEC, and UL requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
• At least 5 years of related experience in electrical power and controls is preferred.
• Knowledge of low- and medium-voltage power systems design, grounding schemes, electrical codes, and power control automation.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, PC controls, distributed processing, and communication protocols including Modbus and CAN bus.
• Ability to read power control and automation schematics and blueprints and create drawings using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Ability to collaborate with contractors, consultants, engineers, end users, suppliers, and cross-functional teams in a deadline-driven environment.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of UL 891, UL 1558, UL medium-voltage standards, and UL 508A.
