Engineer - Protection & Control (Power Systems)

Location: Orange, Connecticut, United States. On-site office schedule required.

Salary: $96,400–$120,500 per year

What you will do

• Provide detailed protection and control engineering, designs, and calculations for major substation capital projects.
• Support projects through scoping, budgeting, conceptual engineering, design, construction, and closeout.
• Develop equipment specifications, project documents, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and relay logic diagrams.
• Review and approve engineering work for compliance with company standards, specifications, contracts, codes, and regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, unit managers, construction teams, and other departments while working independently on assigned projects.
• Support construction and outage sequencing, commissioning, and substation equipment commissioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience in power systems electrical engineering, preferably in protection and control.
• Knowledge of substation protection and control design is required.
• Experience with control and protection schematics, single-line diagrams, engineering documentation, and equipment specifications.
• Knowledge of system protection, AC/DC loading, CT performance, short-circuit analysis, relay settings and coordination, insulation coordination, lightning and transient analysis, and commissioning.
• Knowledge of local, state, federal, company, and national or international codes, standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
