TL;DR
NDE Associate Engineer III (Nondestructive Evaluation): Training and certifying NDE technicians and developing procedures, maintenance instructions, and inspection reports for laboratory and aerospace support operations with an accent on ASNT standards, inspection planning, and radiation safety. Focus on validating nondestructive evaluation methods, defining inspection acceptance criteria with customers, and maintaining compliance with NASA, industry, and Florida radioactive materials requirements.
Location: Kennedy Space Center, Florida, United States; onsite, with second-shift operations and initial first-shift training

What you will do
- Train and certify NDE technicians under ASNT-TC-1A, ANSI/ASNT CP-189, and AIA/NAS 410 requirements.
- Prepare and validate standard operating procedures for nondestructive evaluations in accordance with industry, NASA, and customer standards.
- Support the industrial radiographer radiation safety program under the State of Florida Radioactive Materials License and KSC Use Authorization.
- Develop maintenance instructions for NDE equipment and review and approve NDE inspection reports.
- Conduct pre-inspection walkdowns with customers to define inspection objectives, applicable standards, acceptance criteria, and NDE methods.
- Follow applicable safety, quality, environmental, operational, and customer-contract requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a scientific field plus 14 years of job-related experience, or 16 years of job-related experience.
- Current ASNT Level III certification in at least three NDE methods, preferably or with the ability to become certifiable in ET, UT, and LT.
- RT Level III personnel must also hold current X and gamma IRRSP certification.
- U.S. citizenship is required for unescorted access to assigned work areas, and the position requires the ability to pass and maintain a security clearance and successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, computer systems, and integrated software applications.
- Strong communication, analytical, organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
