TL;DR
NDE Inspector Level II (Aerospace): Performing nondestructive inspections of components, assemblies, and weldments for human-rated commercial space stations with an accent on radiographic testing, digital radiography, and radiation safety. Focus on interpreting radiographic images, resolving inspection findings with engineering and production teams, and maintaining compliance with aerospace quality standards.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite, second shift

Pay range: $33–$49 per hour

What you will do

  • Perform nondestructive inspections using radiographic, visual, penetrant, eddy current, and other qualified methods.
  • Conduct radiographic inspections of components, assemblies, and weldments, including digital and computed radiography.
  • Interpret radiographic images against engineering requirements, specifications, codes, standards, and procedures.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate radiographic equipment and associated inspection software.
  • Prepare inspection reports, maintain documentation, and collaborate with Engineering, Production, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
  • Improve NDE procedures and work instructions, support continuous improvement, follow radiation safety policies, and mentor junior inspectors and contractors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or an Associate degree is preferred.
  • Current NDE Level II certification in at least one method under ASNT, NAS410, or an equivalent standard.
  • Current RT Level II certification is required; experience with digital and computed radiography is strongly preferred.
  • IRRSP certification is preferred; candidates hired without it must obtain certification within 3 months of hire.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on NDE experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or a related industry.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. person under U.S. export-control regulations or be eligible for a deemed export license. Ability to work overtime or weekends, lift up to 25 lbs unassisted, and enter confined spaces is required.

Nice to have

  • Additional Level II certifications in ET, RT, DR, PT, VT, CR, UT, UTSW, or MT.
  • Radiation Safety Officer experience, AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification, and aerospace NDE experience.
  • Experience inspecting aluminum alloys, precipitation-hardened steels, Inconel, Monel, titanium, and maraging steel.
  • Knowledge of NASA 5009, AMS, AWS/ASME, ASTM, Lean principles, PPS, and 8D problem-solving.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
