Risk Control Associate Specialist, National Property

Location: Walnut Creek, California, United States. The role requires a consistent field presence, with approximately 20%–50% of time spent with customers onsite or virtually. Customer travel may include long-distance, overnight, and multi-night trips.

Annual base salary: $85,600–$141,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Conduct risk evaluations for customers, identifying exposures, hazards, loss controls, and opportunities to improve risk management.
• Share risk findings and recommendations with underwriting to support effective risk pricing.
• Consult with customers onsite or virtually, explain complex technical information, and encourage adoption of recommended risk controls.
• Build property risk engineering expertise through discipline-specific training, customer surveys, and feedback from experienced specialists.
• Research emerging issues and loss trends in claims data to support field consultant training programs.
• Support underwriting, claims execution, and related business processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, science, or another engineering or science discipline.
• At least three years of experience in engineering or fire protection.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for explaining technical information to audiences with different levels of expertise.
• Interpersonal, influencing, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to maintain a field presence and travel to customer locations, including possible overnight and multi-night trips.
