TL;DR
Sr. Environmental Scientist/Engineer/Geologist (Environmental Site Investigation and Remediation): Planning and managing environmental investigation, risk assessment, and remediation projects involving soil, sediment, groundwater, and vapor intrusion with an accent on regulatory compliance, data interpretation, and technical writing. Focus on evaluating remedial technologies, developing conceptual site models, leading complex field projects, and managing client relationships and project teams.

Location: Greenville, South Carolina, United States; periodic travel, including to rural locations, may be required.

Salary: USD $103,002–$159,120 per year, plus potential participation in an annual discretionary bonus program.

What you will do

  • Plan and coordinate site investigation, risk assessment, and remediation projects involving soil, sediment, groundwater, and vapor intrusion.
  • Interpret environmental data, develop conceptual site models, identify data gaps, and prepare scopes, schedules, costs, and health and safety plans.
  • Write complex technical deliverables, including reports, permits, and work plans.
  • Evaluate remedial alternatives, support regulatory negotiations, and develop cost-effective closure strategies.
  • Lead pilot testing and design of remedial technologies, evaluate performance, and optimize remediation strategies.
  • Delegate work, mentor junior staff, coordinate technical experts and subcontractors, and support proposals and business development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or a related discipline; a master’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • 10–15 years of professional experience in environmental consulting, including project management and technical work on moderate to complex investigation and remediation projects.
  • Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, state and federal environmental regulations, site characterization, environmental assessments, monitoring programs, and contaminated-site remediation.
  • Knowledge of vapor intrusion and/or emerging contaminants, with strong data collection, experimental design, analysis, interpretation, and technical writing skills.
  • PE or PG certification, or the ability to obtain it within the first year, is required for engineers and geologists.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification, current 8-hour refresher training, and a valid driver’s license are required.
