Senior Field Risk Engineer

Location: Miami, Florida, United States; primarily office-based with work-from-home flexibility, travel to customer, field, construction, and office sites, including approximately 25% overnight travel.

What you will do

• Conduct property loss prevention surveys at commercial facilities across varied occupancies.
• Assess building construction, plastics exposure, occupancy hazards, external exposures, fire protection features, and natural catastrophe risks.
• Analyze water supplies and sprinkler system demands to evaluate protection adequacy.
• Perform consultative customer visits, plan reviews, and fire protection equipment testing.
• Document survey findings in a data-driven reporting application and develop loss prevention solutions.
• Provide technical support to underwriters and clients while mentoring and training less experienced staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
• At least eight years of highly protected risk, specialized industry, and/or boiler and machinery field experience.
• Knowledge of a wide range of occupancies and expertise in detailed windstorm evaluations.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, independent decision-making, and the ability to collaborate with account engineers and underwriters.
• Ability to inspect buildings visually and with instruments, read construction drawings and diagrams, and prepare technical reports.
• At least one year of driving experience and a valid U.S. driver’s license are required. Ability to travel, work outdoors and at heights, use access equipment, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate a motor vehicle safely is also required.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer or Certified Fire Protection Specialist designation.
