Focus on troubleshooting process chemistry and equipment, developing engineering studies and capital projects, and supporting plant startups, shutdowns, turnarounds, and incident investigations.

Location: Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, United States; onsite work in an operating chemical facility

What you will do

  • Monitor and report operational performance, plant efficiency, capacity, catalyst performance, emissions, and process safety.
  • Evaluate process and equipment performance and resolve issues involving pumps, compressors, turbines, heat exchangers, absorbers, strippers, boilers, reactors, and high-pressure steam systems.
  • Optimize plant performance through troubleshooting, process modeling, data analysis, process tests, and technical support for operations.
  • Complete process engineering studies and support the collaborative design of new installations and processes.
  • Prepare and review PFDs, P&IDs, scopes of work, and equipment specifications for capital projects.
  • Support operational procedures, training, MOC, PHA, LOPA, incident investigations, turnarounds, catalyst replacements, and plant restarts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET- or ICheme-accredited university.
  • At least five years of process engineering experience in an operating chemical manufacturing, refining, or oil and gas company.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and with plant personnel.
  • Ability and willingness to collect field data, enter process equipment for inspections, and perform routine field engineering work onsite.
  • Ability and willingness to work alternative schedules temporarily to support 24/7 operations during startups, shutdowns, upsets, and catalyst reductions.
